Omar Cheese has recalled ‘Village Paneer’ and ‘Indya Paneer’ from Indian specialty shops in Victoria, Australia, due to Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

The products affected by the recall are Village Paneer and Indya Paneer, which are vacuum packed, with various weights between 250g - 550g. The products bear a best before date of 30 July 2014.

Listeria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low immune systems.

The agency has advised consumers not to eat this product. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
