Following the 2007 release of its PowerTap onsite hydrogen generation station, Nuvera (Booth 2264) announced the new PowerTap+ program at ProMat.
Under the program, Nuvera will own and operate the on-site hydrogen generation equipment, from generator to discharge pump. The utility approach ensures the customer has access to hydrogen no matter what, according to Gus Block, director of marketing and government affairs. The program eliminates the cost of owning and operating hydrogen production equipment as a barrier to entry into fuel cell technology, said Block.
Each generator produces up to 50 kg of hydrogen per day, and multiple units can provide a cost-effective hydrogen source for small and mid-sized applications requiring 25 to 150 kg per day. By offering improved uptime and productivity in intensive electric battery lift truck applications such as grocery, the program can offer a return on investment within two to three years.
