According to the statistics from CAPMAS in Egypt, its volume of goods trade was USD28.0 billion from January to April in 2016, down 9.3% year-on-year (the same below). Exports fell by 3.0% to USD6.92 billion, and imports fell by 11.2% to USD21.08 billion. The trade deficit was USD14.16 billion, down 14.7%.

In April, Egypt’s volume of goods trade fell by 4.7% to USD7.49 billion. Exports grew by 2.1% to USD1.87 billion and imports fell by 6.8% to USD5.62 billion. And the trade deficit fell by 10.7% to USD3.75 billion.

Since January to April, bilateral trade volume between Egypt and China fell by 5.2% to USD3.04 billion. Egypt’s exports to China grew by 28.8% to USD0.19 billion. It accounted for2.7% of Egypt’s overall export, up 0.7%. And Egypt’s imports from China fell by 6.8% to USD2.85 billion. It accounted for 13.5% of Egypt’s overall imports, up 0.6% over the previous year. Egypt’s trade deficit with China fell by 8.6% to USD2.67 billion.

China was the 8th largest export market of Egypt and its largest source of imports up to April in 2016.
